Celebrating Twenty-Sixth Sunday of Ordinary Time

Homily given by Fr. Jim Lowe CC at St. Scholastica 10am Mass

Sunday September 29, 2019

Dearly beloved disciples of our Lord Jesus Christ,

For several years, our parishioners have expressed interest in becoming actively involved with Cornerstone Health and Technology High School. I have good news. We have been in communication with Cornerstone administration and several opportunities have been presented to us to work directly with the students in the school. The first opportunity we have been given is to participate in the Cornerstone Partner Program. I would like to invite you to consider participating in this Program.  This is a great opportunity for us to make a positive difference in the lives of Cornerstone students.  The first Partner Morning is Oct 7th. I have already volunteered.

What Is Partner Morning?

Cornerstone Schools has been delivering this unique program for students and adults since they opened their doors in 1991, teaching students that the greatest gift is to give of oneself so others may live more abundant lives.  This program also fosters relationships between adults and students so students can learn what is possible in life through the experiences of others and receive guidance from someone who loves and cares about them.

Each school hosts a Partner Morning four times per school year – September, December, March, and June – with each one centered around a theme such as communication, character development, literacy, career & life pathways, entrepreneurship, and exploring different cultures.

Partner Mornings begin at 8:30 a.m. with refreshments and fellowship, followed by a brief program at 8:45 that provides highlights of academic activities, and a musical or dramatic performance by the students.  Partners are then dismissed to the classrooms to spend time with students.  They come together to interact, engage, and work on projects, experiments, or lessons centered on the Partner Morning theme for that month.  These experiences and interactions enable students to improve communication skills, develop an aptitude for building relationships, be inspired through the experiences of others, and feel the joy that these friendships bring.  Partner Morning concludes promptly at 10:15 a.m.

Please consider visiting https://www.cornerstoneschools.org/partner-morning/ to sign up. As always, be assured of my daily prayers for you and your families. Let us especially keep our brothers and sisters who are suffering from loss of a loved one and serious illness at this time.

Your brother in Christ,

Fr. Jim Lowe, CC
